According to the principles of Vastu, the kitchen area is crucial and when evaluating the layout of a house, the traditional elements of fire, water and other elements are taken into account. In different Vastu traditions, there may be slight variations in the rules, but the South-East is traditionally linked to the fire element, and is considered to be the ideal area for a kitchen.
